I have been using both Queene Helene Mint Julep Mask and Freeman Mint & Lemon Clay Mask for a few months now and decided to review them. Both clay masks are useful to help tighten pores, rinse away black heads, dry up pimples, reduce oil production and draw out impurities.
I have oily skin in the summer so these products are a must have summer product for me ! I normally use clay masks once a week in the summer and in the winter1-2 times a month.
Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask ($6.95 @ TBBS)
This product is readily available in the states at CVS and Target (Etc). However, this is not the case for me. I could only find it at the Toronto Barber and Beauty Supply downtown Toronto). I like how it comes in a tube where you can control the amount you can squeeze out. However... the formula is thicker than the Freeman's so sometimes its difficult control the amount of product that comes out. I like the smell of the product, its nice and minty sort of like toothpaste (so the smell may not be for everyone). It goes on smooth and takes 10-15 minutes to dry. After rinsing it off I noticed that my pore look smaller, the amount of white and black heads are reduced, and I am not as oily the following days.
Pro's - product does everything it claims to do, smells nice, easy to apply
Con's - not readily accessible at retail stores
Overall Rating - 5/5
Would I repurchase again? - Yes
Freeman Mint & Lemon Clay Mask ($3 @ Walmart)
This product is readily available at Walmart and Loblaws (etc). Again, I like how the product is in a tube so it is easy to control the amount of product you want. The formula is "thinner" compared to the Queen Helene so you may need to use more product to achieve a thick overall coverage of your face. The product smells minty with a hint of lemon scent. The product goes on smoothy and takes 10-15 minutes to dry. This product also achieves the same outcomes as the Queen Helene mask, my pore look smaller, the amount of white and black heads are reduced, and I am not as oily the following days. Sometimes I find this product irritates my forehead as it dries, I am not sure if this is due to the product it self or the process of the product drying.
Pro's -product does everything it claims to do, smells nice, easy to apply, readily available, great price
Con's - product does not apply on thick so you may have to use more product to achieve a thick mask
Overall Rating - 4.5 / 5
Would I repurchase again? - Yes

I would likely keep repurchasing the Freeman Clay Mask because it is more readily available and the price is less than the Queen Helene Clay Mask. It achieves the same outcome as the Queen Helene Clay Mask and cost 1/2 the price, so I don't feel the need to spend the extra money (it not much difference but in the long run it adds up). I gave the Queen Helene a higher rating because I like how the formula is thicker than the Freeman Clay Mask so I didn't need to use as much product. Both products are great I would recommend both products to anyone you just need to see which formula works best for your skin.
